Mens Infertility - Help and support

[mood |disappointeddisappointed]
[music |Patty Griffin/Long Ride Home]

My husband and I have been married and ttc for five years now. Yesterday we had our first consultation with the fertility clinic. Looks like IVF with ICSI for us. They will, however, not finance us so we have to come up with $10,000 before things go any further.

My husband, Ken, had been diagnosed with a Varicocele and had four removed during major surgery in May of 2004. His count/motility/morphology has all improved, but not enough to achieve a natural pregnancy (or even for insemination or standard IVF). His count yesterday was 2 million. It just seems like that should be enough.

They checked me over with an Intra-Vaginal Sonogram and I have tweleve follicles, and one little egg that is about to release. The doc also said that my uterus looked great.

So, now it will mean more work for us(literally, my husband will be gone three weeks out of the month now, instead of the usual two...perhaps a year or more before we are able to afford to concieve. That was hard.
